Cwalk Around The World: C-Walk Poland

The “Warsaw C-Walk Party ‘07″. All the big cwalkers in Poland gathered together.





Nobody knows about a certain date for when the C-Walk culture appeared in Poland. There were a few people who saw its beauty in video clips and tried to hop around like Snoop Dogg or X-zibit. But that was nothing big….

Truth is, the big movement started in July ‘06 when the first polish cwalk forum showed itself to the world. /There used to be another one but it died/ We were newbies and guys like MsKo and Wolak appeared as idols in our eyes. The forum was our house and we were like a family. Everybody knew everybody, there were big discussions about “the real” C-Walk…, about the West Coast culture and….about us – The C-Walkers. Unfortunately, haters appeared, saying that cwalking is something particularly for black people. You see, Poland is a very specific country, most people are intolerant. They couldn’t understand the difference, that we weren’t trying to act like Crips. That there is a distinction between a “Crip” and a “Clown” walk. However we remained strong and every next day would provide us with new advices, new videos, new battles and MORE experience. The community was growing day by day.

Finally we decided that it was about time to show Poland what The C-Walk is. Everyone sent a short video and together with the help of our sick editor bodzio we released the First Official Polish mixtape on the 27th of Jan 2007. You can see the video below.




Luckily it got featured by YouTube and watched over 180, 000 times. Everybody felt that big times were coming.



The whole Polish C-Walk Staff did a great job! Later on, the same year, Purezone-Style and WMR managed to organize the first Warsaw C-Walk Party. I wonder if there has been anything similar before. Thanks to the sponsors we got a place to carry out a mini tournament and were given afterparty prizes. There were guests like Minix( the best polish beatboxer) and Rahim( legendary raper from Paktofonika squad). The party is going to be organized again in 2008, so everybody are welcome to join.

All the videos and meetings made the C-Walk very popular in Poland. Nowadays you can see random people doing it in front of their house. Don’t know if it’s the big enthusiasm or something else but it seems that guys here are improving fast. Many of us are in JA, few in SA, but only time and tournies will show our real value….


Although I am no longer active on the boards, I do care about the community and whenever there is a meeting I try to give it a visit. Thanks to everybody who read this article, hope to see you on this year’s Warsaw C-Walk Party!
